definitely needs a few customizable options, width/height, alarm(s), maybe a color picker that can better match desktop colors.

It should be more customizable. There are no options at all other than 12/24. At least you should allow to increase the size so that date can be seen a little larger.

although this is shown as an English(UK) gadget, the date is in USA form ie 10/25 rather than 25/10 as in UK

It should have facility to set it for any gmt time, other than synchronising system timing is the need of the hour.

It's small and has a nice color that is easily seen. However, it lacks the ability to show dates and weekdays in local culture-specific formats. Also it lacks the ability to show week numbers.
